Yes, a driver night halt charge applies on all overnight outstation trips and this is completely standard practice for tempo traveller hire service. It is not a hidden cost; it is a legitimate and reasonable allowance that covers your driver's accommodation and meals while he is away from home for the duration of your trip.

The charge ranges from ₹300 to ₹500 per night depending on the destination. Routes to nearby destinations like Haridwar, Mathura, Jaipur, or Agra attract the lower end of this range, while longer or more remote routes such as Manali, Shimla, Dharamshala, or Vaishno Devi attract ₹400 to ₹500 per night due to higher accommodation costs at those locations. For a 3-night trip, you can expect a total driver bhatta of ₹900 to ₹1,500- a negligible amount when split across a group of 12 to 14 passengers.

Hotel provides room
If your hotel provides a complimentary driver room and meal- night halt charge is fully waived. Confirm with the hotel at check-in.

Fixed packages
Chardham, Manali, Jaipur fixed-rate packages already include driver bhatta in the quoted price- nothing extra to pay.

Per-km bookings
On per-km rate bookings, night halt is always separate. Ask for the exact per-night amount before confirming.
Always ask your operator for a complete written cost sheet before confirming
